As you all know I want to go into game design and game music creation. I've been inspired a lot by Ronald Jenkees and the sound his keyboard produces it's phenomenal and I think it would be a great addition to game music creation as well as general fun and creativity to get the music side of my interests rolling. I have played piano in the past quite a bit and am very familiar with it. It's pretty expensive and I really want to invest in it but I'm a bit leery of spending so much money but I think it'd be worth it in the long run. What do you guys think? www.zzounds.com/item--KORTR76By the way if you haven't heard Ronald Jenkees -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O2aH4XLbtowww.youtube.com/watch?v=giAzopSy-g0

Are the keys on that keyboard weighted to feel like a piano or are they like...not. Obviously its nicer to get the ones which feel real, and for that price I think they would be, but I dont see it mentioned in that huge list of features. But, Im pretty sure maybe all professional keyboards are like that. But as far as actually investing in that..maybe you could just stick with a cheapo and software sound effects for a while and see where you get. Maybe after a year or so when you are actually in school for this stuff you could re-evaluate how feasible it is to get one. And by then, maybe youll want an even nicer one.
EDIT: ah, I see now in a review someone mentions the keys are not weighted.

I'm not going into this for school. It's a side-project of mine and basically I'm thinking of three main determining factors:
1) I need a keyboard to start practicing on scales and melodies and whatever, period 2) If it's a cheaper one I might lose interest because of lack of cool sounds (I slightly lose interest in my guitar because of lack of certain amp/pedal effects that would cost a lot) 3) The earlier I buy it the better I'll be by the time I propose to a company that I want to help make game music, and the better reputation I will have built
PS. I know they are not weighted, but again I'm not going for the real piano feel nor will I be playing real piano sounds with it.
PPS. You have 2 more posts before you can never post again, Sean

think it would be more impresive if you just worked within your means. creativity comes from the mind, not hardware. im sure you can create sounds that are just as interesting with a cheapo keyboard if you apply yrself. have you looked at any retro keyboards/synthesizers? im sure there are ones from the late-70s/80s that can make cool sounds like youtubedude.

Dudes I found a music store that had these keys for $400 cheaper than the online price. I'm probably gonna buy it in a few hours!
