Anyone play Fallout 3? I watched Nick Drew Play the last stage. It seemed alright. Some of the action made me dizzy and the shooting system seemed like it could get repetitive. The look of it was cool though, I still wish i could've seen more dialogue/story.

I played it. It's basically a better version of Oblivion when you get down to it.
the problems with Oblivion were the combat aspects.with the new targeting system in fallout, it helps break up the monotony of one touch fighting and spell casting, and allows you to slow down and think, which is a big plus. Targeting seems simple, but it's about finding the right place to shoot from. It forces you to not run and gun everything, since even when you slow down time to shoot, you can still get hit and die. It stresses cover for you and your opponent. I was fighting this guy in a grocery store, and the battle went on forever, because no matter where i went to flank him, he went back under cover from my shots, until I almost died running up to him and just hitting him in the face with my baseball bat.
The best thing about Oblivion was it's vast open ended areas, and the people who went on about daily life even if you weren't there. I think Fallout bests Oblivion in both of these areas as well.
For me, the fantasy and medieval types of worlds that have dominated gaming in the recent years has become old. In oblivion, you would get really excited in seeing a hidden cave. Who knows what secrets it might hold! But then after exploring for a bit, you realize that it's just a FUCKING CAVE. And caves were everywhere in that game, and the textures all looked the same. These areas become so boring that you don't even choose to run and explore anymore, and quick move from place to place instantly, drastically reducing the "wide open areas".
In Fallout, even the simplest of places are wonderful and new, because the Apocalyptic setting makes everything infinitely cooler. You see a school building, which might as well be a "cave" instance, but the new template brings something new to the table. there's something insanely creepy about walking through a dilapidated school play ground, hiding behind slides, hoping no one with a sniper rifle notices you in their sights. This makes you want to just look around at everything, because it's like nothing you've really seen before. And since you spend a lot of time staring at worn out buildings and roads, you end up getting surprised by giant mole rats from behind. All very cool and scary.
I was gonna write a review in the review section once i played more, but this is already stupidly long, so I'll stop until I actually get around to beating the game.
