Good cuz I almost killed myself listening to that speech. Sounded like a 5th grader wrote it, in that it sounded like how they teach you to write "amazing essays" in 5th grade.
"According to nfl.com, Brett Favre is amazing"

yeah man it pisses me off. I know lots of people who are just nothing special at all and manage great grades. Its not like they are gifted, they just mindlessly do assignments and get the A all the time. Like my roommate, who isnt extremely dumb, but makes anyone on this forum look like a genius, and he can get a 3.7. He does more work than I do though, although what he works at is jumping through hoops and doesnt take any knowledge to heart.
you could just say I am jealous, but you can listen to how he writes his essays...

It's the difference between smart and intelligent. A smart person can take all easy courses, and basically follow the pattern the professor gives to gain favor in assignments and get good grades. A smart person also makes sure to do all assignments all the time. An intelligent person may get lazy at times, but they take the time to fully understand all the material. An intelligent person asks why and how, while a smart person simply does it. A smart person looks at the problem sin(pi) and gets out his calculator to compute the answer. An intelligent person has already studied why and how trigonometric functions work, sees sin(pi) and knows it's 0.
It doesn't matter if he's getting better grades than you, it's what you learn and what you know that matters. For example I'm getting a C in both my compsci and physics classes but I'm learning more than I ever learned in my life. I'm very glad I skipped the easier class. I would be getting an A but I'd also be a semester behind, and probably bored.

we are monkeys. college is nothing. when you die, will your diploma give you eternal salvation? intelligence and smartness are only words and have little, or nothing, to do with classes. everyday i dream of withdrawing the last of my money, putting my sketchbooks in a bag, and fleeing to a new city. the only thing that stops me is the thought of how angry it would make my parents.

you should have to have some philosophy as required classes in school. lots of people just think that it is above their heads, or just some useless postulation that leads nowhere. philosophy is like the mother of all subjects, and even though it can be somewhat simple it still could govern power over many problems in life if society was up for "chance"

yeah, ive had this conversation many times before. philosophy embodies life and everyone is a philosopher. it is the study of all and nothing. you can apply it to anything. what are we besides collages of thought and dioramas of knowledge? the study of thought and knowledge should be important to all.
