This PSP game is a port of the 1997 game Final Fantasy Tactics, on the original playstation. Now, that is old school. Story: If you want a good story, its all there. Dive in, because the world this game opens up with characters and plot is truly deep. The cutscenes are a *very* nice touch. Its pretty dramatic though, and the only comic relief is that the cute little characters dont have noses.. Gameplay: Are you yearning to strategize? Would you even go so far as to get a pen and paper to plan some stuff out? You will have to do some background research and learn from the pros before you ultimately understand the mechanics of character development and strategy. This game simply doesnt teach you everything by itself. The learning curve is notable, but once you think you got it figured out...you will be addicted. The replayability in this game is very high, which gives it great value. The games main problem is that it is unbalanced. This is greatest towards the end of the game. All in all: Its 10 years old, and it may be the most valued psp game coming out this year. Its a definite classic, yet it isnt outdated at all. Its only flaw is that it is so tough to get into, and needs to be lightly refined. Once you do get into it though, you will not regret it. Seriously, give it a try.

I got this back in the winter of 98 for 11 dollars, and is definitely one of the greatest games i've ever played, and i bring it out and replay it every couple months.
ps. Monks rock early, then samurais, and geomancers are pretty tight too.

Dude monk/samurai is a very solid character. They dont have high damage but they can pretty much become indestructable with a few skills and items.
The best heavy hitter though is a Knight who learned dual wield from a ninja, because then they weild two Knight swords...of which are the most powerful in the game. You can reverse the role to up the speed too..a ninja with equip swords learned.
But, none of this matters towards the last chapter though...because once you get the quintessential Cid (referred to as Orlandeau), he can pretty much just beat the rest of the game by himself. So yeah, for me the end was too easily exploited and my team was way below level (like level 40, instead of around 60)

Thomas' Review
I played this game for ~30 minutes and I say it sux biotches. This game reminds me of gay and the camera is teh sux. I'd like to give the main knight dood in this game a bag... OF TEA. Also Sony sux. The one on Nintendo is WAY better. Also M$ sux.
I give this game a 7 on the new 7 to 10 scale.

I agree with you that Tactics Advance is a great game...and "A2" will probably be great..but you cant just play this game for less than 30 minutes and say it sucks. I mean, what kind of noob are you?

Oh I can and did pass judgement on this game after 30 minutes of play. No amount of logical jibba-jabba can change my opinion now. Only money or things that have monetary value can. Like my N64 Super Smash Brothers.
