So there is a mac pro in ma basement, and Im thinking...how can the university afford that...
So I went to apple to try to maximize a mac pro, and you can spend almost $20,000 on that machine. Its pretty wild though, because it has 16 gigs of RAM and stuff, and 2 quad cores, and like 1000 gigs of memory.
Is there any windows machine which can have such specs? Because the only thing the mac pro is lacking is top notch grafix support in SLI...Im wondering if you can even have such a computer?

I don't think I've ever seen a motherboard that supports 16 gigs of RAM yet or 8 fricken cores... although, that's probably because NO PROGRAM needs 16 gigs of RAM or 8 cores. Anyways, i've never heard of a pc that can directly match those specs. I've never seen a mobo support more than 8gigs of RAM or 4 cores. However, most new PC RAM runs at 800mhz while apple stuff runs at 667 I think? Plus PCs now can have DDR3 RAM. Plus PCs can run 4 of these in SLI so it's kinda game over (especially note the 1 gig of graphics RAM each): www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133189

I bet it can play 1000 games of crysis on max specs at the same time without even raising a single degree C.

dood, this thing must output enough heat to warm a third world country. heck, this thing probably outputs enough heat to POWER a third world country (which, for some reason, has an electricity infrastructure but is still a third world country).

I dont even get supercomputers. Like, what kind of math problems do they even deal with?? And is that even math anymore or just AI at its best?

Things we Need Supercomputers for:
1) Seeing what Crysis looks like on max specs
2) Robot Apocalypse
3) Doing more than 9 iterations of a Koch snowflake fractal (LOL COMP SCI JOKE?)
4) Choosing who lives and who dies (eventually leading to reason 2)
5) Running all p0rn sites on the internet (should the originals all go down simultaneously)
6) Hunting Sarah Connor/ Protecting John Connor
7) Running Minesweeper so well that when you lose, everyone in a mile radius of the machine dies
