Now I'm thinking about building my own computer. After I finished I was surprised how similar it was to Sean's (-expensive graphics) Case: Cool looking with a 500w power supply (good for n00bs, so I hear) -~$100 HD:Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive -$80 Graffix: 7600 gt -$80 Sound Card:Creative Sound Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card -$28 Memory:CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 -$90 Mother: ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard -$130 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor -$187 OS: Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium -$120 Other Random Stuff: monitor, mouse, keyboard, disk drives, speakers Other Notes:•Total price after shipping and rebates is ~$1,100 •I hear you can get some mad overclock on that CPU. •I intend to upgrade my graffix once the 8000 series goes down in price some (by christmas?) So I dunno, this is just what I threw together so far. I'd be grateful for any input (like if I forgot anything I'll be needing ).

^That's what people said about xp when it first came out
Looks good I have dual 512 corsairs and they works awesome even with running several programs and once [2 half life 2's actually worked before they fixed running two instances]
I dunno anything about that graphics card, what's the memory on that?

*Twitin* •Yeah, I might just get that better cpu but I'm not sure. •It does some pretty shady getting power with a case but all the reviews for it seems pretty good ( tinyurl.com/2z4bjq) •Yeah, Vista seems kind iffy on a lot of fronts at this moment but I'm (in all likelihood going to be using this computer for 4 years so... ------------------------ *peanut* •256mb ( tinyurl.com/2s4x6q)

every time i get rick rolled i have to watch the video to see the black man then a pregnant woman has an abortion which isn't a bad thing..... Also If i remember its been such a long time since i actually bought new parts -.- used ftw kinda -.- but i think EVGA has a step up program where u can trade in stuff within a certain time period and get money back towards a new vid card unless they got rid of that but still evga is teh pwnzors when it comes to vid card companies!!!!

Actually I was looking at an EVGA card: tinyurl.com/3d5prr..and I never heard of that program but if it's still alive it sounds like just what I'd want.

keep the 6400 but get the motherboard I was going to get, im too lazy to go find it. Together they can overclock a solid 3.0 ghz. Yeah its no joke too I read a huge article on it.

mmm...your gfx card doesnt say that it works with vista...and it has no directx 10 so why bother using it with vista? thats just a waste
wait...the overview says it is "ready for Vista" but the specs say it isn't supported...now i'm just confused

Yeah, I think the specs are just outdated because this is older than vista. I dunno, it would only be a temporary card until I... ya know.. get a game that supports directx 10...

mmm i think that would work better for me than my current comp
but good news! i gots me an ebay-ed card comin in...soon. i forget what it was, err...it is a 7(something)00 Evga card, i believe a 7800gs or maybe a 7600 gs (there is a gs in there somewhere), for like $100-ish plus shipping. it's a damn good card for the price
here's hoping it works

Oh ya, ordered my PC parts. Only changes are that I'm getting a 2.4ghz processor, an 8600gt graffix, and a 250 GB HD.
~Same price and watts for power and case but I went with independent case and power supply.
With swapping out parts and stuff it came to about $30 more than my old estimate. Worth it I think, should add much longevity (especially with better graffix card which I can actually later run in SLi... although I'd probably just do the evga trade-up program instead).
