looks pretty sweet
the screen resolution seems like it could be a bit higher (although i'm no expert on notebook resolutions and 1280 x 800 don't sound that bad at all).
Also if the graphics card is actually equivalent to the PC version, then that is pretty sweet but I have no idea whether it's equivalent or not...

wait... are they for real talking about a dual-graphics card configuration on those higher ends... sweet mother (it'll be huge and have a battery life of about 20 minutes)
Just an extra note: from the comparion to integrated graphics, it seems that the 7600 Go is not quite equivalent to the normal PC version...

ok i need your help again. i had my eyes set on the alienware m9700, its very sweet. its basically the notebook I want but I am convinced I can somehow find its same specs in another notebook which is cheaper. Is there a site that custom builds notebooks or something? All I do is research notebooks constantly now. Its all I think about. I learned more about computers in these past 3 weeks than I ever have.
Im looking for a notebook with core 2 duo processor, hopefully at least 2.0 gHz. and at least 1g of memory. but i really want 2. especially when vista comes out and i will multi task for the sake of multi tasking and my last wish is a powerfull videocard.

I dont know if a core 2 duo is your best option right now. The thing is that most of the software isnt written to take advantage of both cores yet. Also it isnt the best idea to get Vista right away as there will be several Service packs released just like with XP. I would see if you can get a 64 bit notebook somewhere as that will help you take full advantage of Vista. The reason is that Vista claims to be the only true 64bit OS on the market. I know Dell is selling refurbished 64 bit computers you might want to start there.

no core 2 duo is the way of the future. Even if nothing can take advantage of it fully yet im sure within the next 3-4 years there will be. also im not sold on vista, im just saying 2g memory is nice. then again, I think I want to get a mac book pro if I were to get a notebook. but the other half of me wants to make a custom desktop pc. Its either I stick to console gaming and get the macbook pro, or I can make a next gen system to last me. Then again on the macbook pro I would be able to play any game out rigt now, and especially all my old favorites.
but when it comes down to It I am not sure.

I still find the very idea of Boot Camp disgusting. Why should someone have to pay for two operating systems just so they can use one that actually works for everything?
My bias against Macs aside now... it's still retarded to run two operating systems IMO.

I agree I dont like boot camp and personally If I were to get a mac book pro I wouldnt run it. there are other games like nwn civ 4 and age of empires 3 all for mac that I would like to play. gaming wouldnt be in mind if I got a macbook, I would be forced to buy consoles.

I'm either going to get a gaming desktop or a decent laptop that can run games I play a lot well (aka Warcraft III and Counter-Strike Source). I'm going to hope for a Xbox 360 for christmas (come on price drop!).

Thomas if you get a gaming desktop you should build one, and I will build my own along with you and count on your smart choices!
